Since everyone else is opining once again on the health care bill and its approval by the Supreme Court, let me add my two cents. Its quite simple, actually, and completely in line with my worldview that our oligarchical neo-feudalist overlords will do whatever is in their best interest in all cases and, conversely, whatever is in the worst interest of the rest of us peasants. This was the case with the bank bailouts, for example. The banks should have either failed or have been nationalized. Instead we were told that the world was going to end if the Duke of Blankfein and the Lord of Dimon were not given billions in aid. Complete third world cronyism on full display- and it was viewed as such by the third world, I might add. This is part of the reason why China and Russia within months of the bailout heist began talking about the need to diversify away from the dollar and into gold.
Now more cronyism on display with health care. Either you find some free market way to cut the red tape and bloated costs resulting from trial lawyers, overpaid doctors, insurance company cartels, drug companies overcharging for medications in the name of “research”, medicare fraud, and lack of prevention, or you just take the whole %$!#@%* thing over and ration it, probably at reduced cost. Rationing is probably coming to a hospital near you anyway, since guess what, unicorns don’t exist, Santa Claus can’t fit his ass down your chimney, and the tooth fairy can’t carry five dollar bills (or is it 10 these days in our overindulged society?) to the bedroom in your McMansion. In other words, you can’t have something for nothing.
Well wait now, let me rephrase that: you can’t have something for nothing unless, of course, you are part of the “in crowd.”
And if you are reading this, you very likely, are not among the chosen few who get to ream the rest of us with the kind of nauseating sanctimoniousness on display this morning from the Supreme Court, an institution that was supposed to defend the Constitution, but since we all know that that 18th century rag is worthless, the court now just gets to make it up as it goes along. And its geriatric members get to perform this “service” for life with gold-plated government health plans, I might add. You won’t see them in some crappy hospital waiting for the largesse of the Obama administration.
You would think that the oligarchs would smell the waft of ancien regime France in the air, but such is the nature of corruption and greed– it does not act in its own self-interest. To the contrary, it consumes everything, including those whose actions are not about public service, but about sticking their nose for as long as possible in the pig trough.
In other news, paper gold and silver are continuing to sell off, since another cartel, commonly known as the COMEX, is going to allow naked shorting and high frequency nonsense to drive these metals to a point of physical shortage (as was the case in 2008). By my math (comparing to the 08 sell off), it looks like 22-24 dollar silver is getting more likely– and sub 1400 gold. ON PAPER. If you can buy these metals at those prices, back up the truck.
However, I am guessing that if you take the time to read my rantings, you are already invested to your eyeballs in precious metals, and not one of the hopeless idiots out there who still thinks that there 401 (k) laden with Facebook, Apple, and Margin Stanley is the best way to go in the years ahead. But maybe some newbie will happen upon this site and get a taste for that nasty thing called reality (and learn to act accordingly.)
But to conclude, I’m amazed we haven’t been swallowed up by a black hole already. I guess that will have to wait until December.
